
Prof. Leonard Kamwanja
Executive Director
Leonard holds a PhD in Endocrinology-Reproductive Physiology and is a Professor in the same field. He has worked as a livestock specialist in Malawi since 1975. He retired as a Pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Malawi in April, 2011 and joined TAPP as its Executive Director in July of the same year. Before attaining the position of Pro-Vice Chancellor, Leonard worked as a teaching associate and excelled to the Professorship of animal science. His work involved teaching students in various aspects of animal science and also guiding research and research outreach activities on livestock management. In addition, he spearheaded the development of partnerships between the University of Malawi and Norwegian Universities.

Brown Chitekwere
Head of Programmes
Brown is responsible for supervising program operations at organization level. He holds a Masters degree in Agricultural Economics and is currently pursuing his PhD in the same field. Brown has vast experience in livelihood programming and project management. Besides that, he has an extensive research background in agriculture and livelihoods.

Bernadetta Chirwa
Finance & Administration Officer
Bernadetta is responsible for the management of all financial and administrative functions of TAPP Malawi. She is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and also holds a Diploma in Accounting from ICAM. She brings to the team over 11 years of working experience in financial accounting, managing donor funding, budgeting, and reporting as per donors’ requirements. Previously, she worked in microfinance with Malawi Microloan Foundation.

Anita Mahata-Mangochi
Programmes Officer
Anita coordinates the day-to-day implementation of project activities in the team. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and has extensive experience in livelihood programming focused on nutrition, livestock and crop production, climate change, and project management. Besides that, she has experience in coordinating agricultural-related research projects.

Jacob Linde
Monitoring & Evaluation Officer
Jacob spearheads the development and implementation of project-specific M&E systems which guide the successful implementation of all the projects the organization implements. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resources Management and has been in the field of research since his graduation from the University of Malawi in 2013. He has vast experience in environmental and socioeconomic research and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of general livelihood projects.

Bosco E. Chinkonda
PhD Researcher
Bosco is working on the multidisciplinary ImplementOneHealth rabies control implementation research project. He is a decolonial scholar, Sociologist, and published author with expertise and interest in the development and use of participatory artistic community engagement methods in applied interdisciplinary research and health systems strengthening in Africa. A strong believer in the power of innovation and collaboration, Bosco is currently a PhD candidate with the University of Glasgow and is a member of TAPP as part of his doctoral research.

Jacqueline Matoga
Assistant Finance & Administration Officer
Jacqueline is responsible for all of the organization’s accounting, finance, and administrative functions under the supervision of the Finance and Administration Officer. She brings to the team over 6 years of experience in the financial management and accounting of donor-funded projects. She is a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy degree.

Veriam Magana
Marketing & Agribusiness Officer
Veriam holds a Bachelor's Degree in Agribusiness Management. He has vast knowledge and experience in planning and implementation of agricultural activities with a bias in marketing. He also possesses experience in microfinance and SMEs management. With TAPP, he is responsible for developing & strengthening marketing systems for targeted value chains; and capacity building of Farmer Organization, SMEs and smallholder farmers in business management & entrepreneurship and profitable marketing.

Benson Chasambira
Field Officer
Benson brings to the team extensive experience in agricultural extension and community engagement. With a Diploma in Agriculture and Natural Resources Management, Benson supports farmers in Dowa through various capacity-building approaches, while mainstreaming nutrition, WASH, and gender.

Tendai Lifa
Field Officer
Tendai is responsible for the implementation of Climate Smart Agriculture technologies through Lead farmers, FFS, CAV, and CBBP approaches in strengthening the food systems of farmers in Dowa. With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Extension (LUANAR) and a Diploma in Agriculture (NRC), Tendai brings to the team 9 years of experience in the implementation and management of extension and rural development programs.

Gift is responsible for delivering, supervising, and monitoring EPA-level activities. He brings to the team vast experience in poultry and livestock management, dairy production, animal nutrition (feed formulation), conservation agriculture, and climate change management. Charles holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a Diploma in Animal Health and Production, both obtained from LUANAR.

Field Officer
Charles, an ardent livelihood and community development practitioner, brings to the team over 5 years of experience in the implementation of climate-smart agriculture, household food, and nutrition projects, advocacy, and lobbying for women’s rights to land access and control interventions. He is responsible for the implementation of our programming activities at the EPA level in Dowa. He is a holder of a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

Monitoring & Evaluation Associate (Intern)
Collins is on his path to becoming an Agricultural Economist and has joined us at TAPP to develop his capacity in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Research, and Learning. He is going into the final of his studies at LUANAR where he is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics. He holds a Diploma in Agriculture and has experience of service as a field technician, farm supervisor, and data analyst.

Dan Chakhaza
Communications & Media Engagement Associate (Intern)
Dan, an experienced broadcaster and media practitioner, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Cultural Studies with UNIMA. He holds a Diploma in Journalism from the Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) and wishes to develop into a Communications and Media Engagement expert. Dan has joined TAPP to gain experience in communications for development. Beyond his 5-year broadcasting experience, he brings to the team experience in social media management, content creation, and graphic designing.
